Each challenge is randomly picked from whichever modes are turned on below.
One graduated trail: a Phonics Ladder using real Pokémon Pokopia items (Phase A), then Pokémon-name fluency practice (Phase B). Each round mixes review, current-level, and stretch questions around the frontier.
Fixed 5-choice formats — Read & Choose (see a picture, pick the word) and Reverse Read & Choose (see a word, pick the picture) — so difficulty stays constant round to round. The alphabet run has its own trail below.
A run of the alphabet with gaps in it, filled by picking the Pokémon whose name starts with the missing letter. Its own ladder in data/alphabet_levels.csv — the run grows, the gaps multiply, and they move between the start, middle and end.
Eight tracks — add, subtract, multiply, divide and a skip-counting pattern track for each. A track opens once its prerequisite reaches the level named in data/math_tracks.csv, and everything open has a chance to come up.
Not a separate mode — the same maths questions above, shown as Pokémon icons instead of bare numbers. Which rungs can be drawn is set per level in data/math_levels.csv, so it leads the early levels and stops where the numbers outgrow a picture.
